It is important that government, conservation, community development organizations, and private sector find ways to work together at the intersection of these issues to find ways to enhance community development and improve conservation efforts for the long-term.

What we do

Starling focuses on two key areas related to community development.

  • Community planning and enterprise development services, and…

  • Business planning, training, and capacity building, and assisting communities develop access to microfinance. Recognizing the need for improving the skills and knowledge of small and medium sized businesses, particularly those in natural resource use sectors, is important for the long-term sustainability of both community industries as well as the natural resources themselves, our teams provide business and household finance training and mentoring programs is built around relevant subject modules, such as:

  • Behavioral Change,

  • Operational Planning and Control,

  • Financial Planning and Control,

  • Household Financial Management, and

  • Establishing micro-finance initiatives, based on principals of credit unions
